EPCOT Overview
EPCOT, part of Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, opened on October 1, 1982, as a celebration of human achievement and innovation. EPCOT Transportation
EPCOT is centrally located at Walt Disney World and it has the more transportation options than any other park. It is also the only Walt Disney World park with two entrances. The main entrance is where the bus loops, monorail, and parking lots are.
The trams are finally back at EPCOT, so you don’t have to worry about walking through the enormous parking lot. Guests staying at the monorail resorts can ride to the Transporation and Ticket Center to board the EPCOT line.
Guests staying at the Swan and Dolphin, Boardwalk, or Yacht and Beach Club can take a boat from the park’s rear entrance at the International Gateway. Also at the International Gateway is the Skyliner, which services Caribbean Beach, Riviera, Pop Century, and Art of Animation.
EPCOT to Magic Kingdom Monorail
Getting to the Magic Kingdom from EPCOT is easy, thanks to the monorail. However, you should be prepared for a lengthy trip since you will have to make a stop. Riding the monorail to Magic Kingdom is free, and you can board it at the main park entrance.
Once aboard, you will go straight to the Transportation and Ticket Center. From there, you will have to switch to one of the Magic Kingdom monorails.
If the monorails are backed up at the Transporation and Ticket Center, simply switch over to a ferry boat for the final journey.
EPCOT to Hollywood Studios Skyliner
Visitors wanting to park hop to Hollywood Studios can exit at the International Gateway and hop on a boat or take the Skyliner. I prefer the Skyliner because there is no waiting for a boat.
However, the gondola stops at Caribbean Beach Resort, where you have to transfer to the Hollywood Studios line. From there, the Skyliner goes through Riviera Resort before arriving at Hollywood Studios.

EPCOT Rope Drop
Getting to EPCOT before the park opening is the best way to save time waiting in line. Ideally, you should get to the park entrance 30-45 minutes before early entry. Most people will head to either Frozen or Remmy, especially with Test Track now closed.
Remember, there are two entrances to the park, so if you come from the main entrance, people coming from the International Gateway will beat you to Remmy and possibly Frozen. Therefore, I usually go to Frozen first and get on with a less than 10-minute wait. Then, I head over to Remmy, which will have a 30-40 minute wait.
If you don’t have early entry, it may be better to head straight for Soarin’ if the wait times for Remmy and Frozen are over 30. By the time you make it back there, the lines will be even longer, and the walk is arduous.
EPCOT Genie Plus
I personally do not use Genie Plus at EPCOT simply because it isn’t worth it. As long as you can get on Remmy and Frozen first thing in the morning, you won’t have trouble getting on to other major attractions like Test Track and Soarin’ before lunchtime.
While I don’t use Genie Plus at EPCOT, I did buy an individual Lightning Lane for Cosmic Rewind. Fortunately, return times are pretty easy to get these days, so you shouldn’t need to worry about spending money. With that in mind, a Lightning Lane will usually save 30-45 minutes compared to a return time.
EPCOT and Hollywood Studios in One Day
If you have a limited number of days, I would try to do Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios in one day and spend a full day at EPCOT. But if you plan on skipping Animal Kingdom, you could do the main attractions at both EPCOT and Hollywood Studios in one day.
The benefit of doing EPCOT and Hollywood Studios on the same day is that getting between the parks is very quick. It is best to start at Hollywood Studios to get on Rise of the Resistance, Runaway Railway and the other attractions that quickly build a long line.
Around lunchtime, switch over to EPCOT via the International Gateway. Although some attractions will have long waits, you should be able to get on Frozen, Remmy, and Soarin’ before watching Luminous.

FAQs
Is EPCOT Construction Finished?
After years of waiting, construction is finally finished at EPCOT. In case you haven’t been keeping track, construction on the central part of EPCOT started before the pandemic and didn’t wrap up until June 2024. Additionally, Disney parks are never complete, and construction is always happening somewhere. For instance, Test Track is now closed for a lengthy refurbishment.
Can EPCOT Be Done in One Day?
EPCOT can easily be done in one day, especially if you arrive at park opening. To see and do as much as possible, do Frozen and Remmy first thing in the morning and head back toward the front to visit the rest of the attractions. Then, head back to the World Showcase for a relaxing evening.
Can I Buy EPCOT Tickets at the Gate?
Tickets to EPCOT are usually available at the gate, but they are subject to availability. The park is not nearly as restricted as it was during the pandemic, so you can usually walk up and buy tickets. However, ticket prices at the gate are much higher than if you purchase them in advance.
Is it Worth Going to EPCOT Without Rides?
EPCOT is definitely worth visiting, even if you don’t like rides. In fact, there are only a few thrill rides in the entire park. Most of the attractions are designed for everyone to enjoy. Even if you skip all the rides, you can spend hours exploring all of the countries in the World Showcase and watching the entertainers.
